I N S T R U C T I O N S
- Dress-Out EVERY day
o Required PE attire at SMHS is Black athletic / basketball-type shorts or athletic pants + Red crew neck T-shirt + Athletic Shoes (running shoes, tennis shoes, etc.)
o A PE Uniform can be purchased at the Sammy’s Corner store on campus, before school, during lunch, or after school. Additionally, you may purchase these items at your local Target/Kohls/Wal Mart, etc…
Below are some examples of acceptable clothing:
- Be ON TIME to roll call numbers.
o Each teacher has class roll numbers
o Students are given adequate time to change between classes. Be prompt to avoid a Tardy.
- Use your ASSIGNED locker (girls) and bring a MASTER LOCK COMBINATION LOCK (all)
· In the first couple weeks of school, the girls will be assigned a PE locker. PLEASE… Do NOT share with ANYONE! There is a video on how to open a lock HERE
- Boys- you will need to bring your lock each day and use a locker in the boys locker room for the PE period only.
- Put forth your BEST effort each day with a POSITIVE ATTITUDE
o These are the key elements to having a great PE experience.
o These two things are completely in YOUR control.
- PE Course Offerings:
o PE-1 (Typically 9th grade PE). Emphasis on Health, Fitness, Individual sports, and California State Physical Fitness Testing.
o PE-2 (Typically 10th – 12th grade PE). Emphasis on Health, Fitness, Team sports, Leadership skills.
o Advanced Weight Training- 10th – 12th grade, with a successful completion of PE-1 (can also be taken concurrently). Athletes on school sports teams are HIGHLY encouraged to utilize this course.
o Fitness for Life- 10th – 12th grade, with a successful completion of PE-1. Students will explore a variety of fitness options such as aerobics, weight training, plyometrics, along with dance and cardio activities.
o Aquatics- 10th – 12th grade, with a successful completion of PE-1. No swim experience necessary. For beginner to advanced. Students will explore competitive swim strokes, survival strokes, diving, aquatic games, and aquatic skills such as lifeguarding.
